Stars Around My Scars

You drew stars around scars But accidentally dug the pen In my skin too far, it cut deep Bled and shred tons of blood The rain came and washed it all away, turning grief into a quiet flood My world was falling apart with dead pieces, withered roses A grave formed inside my heart I smiled harder, pretending it didn’t hurt, but the red betrayed me too staining everything new I kept looking at you with tear welled eyes And my tight lipped smile You saw it all and laughed at my face Then played games of pull away and chase With no guilt or regret in your eyes What a shame I let you despise Too quick to pull my hand away, too willing to fall back into your knife edged arms "It’s not your fault" I whispered, loving you the way, abandoned children love the dark You fell out of love, falling into her arms And I was left staring, At my blood stained hands knowing these scars will never hold stars again
